Franz Kafka, “The Trial”
When remembering some past times and events that mark the professional life of a man, I cannot forget the following:
– the construction of a factory in such a little town as Šid, starting from an empty field up to the factory which is still operating after 35 years
– the foundation of a company for electronic data processing, also in the small town of Šid, which is no longer, unfortunately, in operation
– the formation of an organizational structure that dealt in IT engineering on the territory of Vojvodina, comprised of the very best personnel that Novi Sad had in the eighties: young, promising and educated, but formed in such a manner that it originally started with 4 men and after 2, 5 years numbered 115 workers; and with that number it entered into completely new spheres of practical computer applications: industry, agriculture, education, publishing activities;
– by investing great energy and perseverence, the placement and marketing of computing technology in foreign markets from a country which nobody could imagine to have that potential at that time, or that, given far more developed countries and information technology centers, it was so daring to deliver and put into operation computing technology of great value and functionality in the COMECON market;
And I remember all of these things since beside that, after a barely survived heart attack, at the time of the complete disorientation and business deprivation; one of the few if not the only person who called me and simply asked me HOW I WAS, was Toma Đorđević.
